About the MEF

The MEF is a global non-profit organization with more than 150 active members spanning the globe, representing all Carrier Ethernet industry stakeholder groups. The MEF mission is to accelerate worldwide adoption of Carrier-class Ethernet services and the network technology that delivers them. The MEF works closely with other standards bodies such as the ITU and IEEE.

The MEF has authored more than 20 technical specifications that define the services, management, interconnection, reliability and quality of service of Carrier Ethernet. It is these attributes that both distinguish Carrier Ethernet from familiar LAN based Ethernet and enable its scalability and ubiquity.

The MEF Certification Program

The Program is designed to assure business users that services behave and perform according to agreed service level specification and known international standards irrespective of supplier.
