Dr Y.P. Bhatia is a well-acknowledged, credentialed, and recognized professional and one of the known personalities in the field of hospital and healthcare management. Though he is comprehensively versed with all aspects of hospital management, he is keenly focussed on facility planning and design, quality in health care, accreditation, systems management, resource optimization and corporate governance. A medical graduate of AFMC, Pune, he received his postgraduate training in Hospital and Health Management, Quality and Corporate Governance from well-known national and international institutions. He has been involved in raising, operationalising and managing many prestigious tertiary care hospitals. After a long and illustrious stint of over ten years as C.E.O. at Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre, Dr Yash P. Bhatia has moved on to incept and promote Astron Hospital and Health Consultants Private (India) Limited, New Delhi and Astron International Consultants, Pte Ltd Singapore along with a team of experienced and well known figures from Healthcare management.

He and his team are involved in the establishment of some of the most prestigious health care institutions in the country including Medicity, Gurgaon, AIIMS Jodhpur, Mata Vaishno Devi Medical Institute, Katra, Lady Hardinge Medical College, Institute of Liver Biliary Sciences, New Delhi, Nizam Institute, Hyderabad, Sterling Hospitals chain in Gujarat, amongst others. Team ASTRON under his leadership is associated with around 30 hospitals for preparing them for national accreditation (NABH and NABL) and International Accreditation (JCI).

He continues to remain a strong advocate of quality in health care with his efforts in establishing and his continued pioneering association with National Accreditation Board for Hospital and Health Care Providers in India. He is recognised internationally in matters of health care quality and is Member, Asia Pacific Advisory Council, Joint Commission International and Council Member of American Society for Quality (Health Care Division). He has also been on the Editorial Advisory Board, Joint Commission Journal of Quality and Patient Safety, USA.

As the founder of the Indian Health Care Quality Forum – a trust devoted towards promoting concepts of quality management in health care in India - he is pioneering the attempt to bring quality in healthcare as a focus for the future globalization of health care in India.

He is a recipient of many prestigious awards and decorations including the Rajiv Gandhi Shiromani Award, the Dada Bhai Nawroji Life Time Achievement Award, the Swami Vivekanand Award, etc.
