Dr. Arun Kumar Agarwal is presently the Director Professor of ENT & Dean, Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi. He is also the Additional Director-General, DGHS, Min. of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.
Dr. Agarwal holds an overall teaching experience of over 30 years and has been involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. He is an Honorary Faculty member and Director of the Department of Medical Education in MAMC.
Dr. Agarwal has had a long association with The National Board of Examinations and is responsible for pioneering and introducing the technique of OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) in the country through the Board. He is, at present, a member of the Governing Body of this board. On an international level, Dr. Agarwal is the Coordinator for the ENT Medical Education all over the globe, under the aegis of the International Federation of Otolaryngological Societies (World ENT Association).
Dr. Agarwal completed his graduation from the King George’s Medical College in Lucknow in 1972 and successfully completed his post-graduation in ENT from the same institute in 1976. Dr. Agarwal started his academic career at the All India Institute of Medical Scieneces where he worked as a Senior Resident from 1977-80. In 1981 Dr. Agarwal joined Maulana Azad Medical College as a Lecturer and over time rose to the post of a Director Professor in ENT and DEAN of the same institution.
Dr. Agarwal has also served as Head of ENT Department at MAMC for many years, and as Medical Superintendent of the LN Hospital in 2003-04. Besides this, Dr. Agarwal is the President of the Delhi Medical Council and Physiotherapy Council of Delhi. He is also the Governing Body member of the National Brain Research Centre.
